We have recently gotten to know Nick who is visiting America from Kenya. Nick came to America in Feb on a work program designed so that he could work part time, then network and establish partnerships with communities and faith based organizations to help support his organization in Kenya, Africa Transforming Lives. His organization provides food and shelter for orphaned and disadvantaged children along with some home schooling and other programs. They are a small grassroots organization. Nick came to America funded by an American friend who had visited his organization and wanted Nick to learn things like how to build a website and how to use solar power, as they have no electricity. America has been challenging, just knowing how to travel, where to stay, etc has been an education and experience for Nick. I've been very impressed by Nick and his passion and perseverance have inspired me to be the change, not just talk about it.
Currently the needs are great but I feel like we can help. Clothing, shoes, small books, pencils, small toys, etc can always be used, as well as non perishable (light weight like jerkey, fruit strips, etc because shipping could get expensive) are also welcomed.
Today's needs are for immediate food, the organization has a large garden and system for food but large rains have currently washed most of that away. The go fund me is to send money for food.
If you feel you can give, even if $5, it will go straight to the Africa transforming lives organization. If you want to donate other goods, please let me know, we will be gathering items for a shipment to go over in a few weeks.
